What is SEO (Search Engine Optimization)? 

 

To put it best it is the ability of your web site to be searchable by internet users trying to locate your business for products or services you offer. Optimizing a web site based on the most important aspects of your business, for example let’s say you sell baseball equipment. Your main products could be baseball gloves, baseball bats, baseball uniforms, baseball hats, baseballs, etc. These main items of interest are considered keywords for consumers to search on the internet search engines for products they need. Keywords are single or multiple words (phrases) that seem to be logical search criteria for consumers. If you went to google and typed in find baseball gloves the search engine would find relevant keyword terms that match your request. Keywords are vital for the success of a web site but it does not end with just listing keywords in your tags. Utilizing your keywords within a content rich web page helps to emphasis the suggested keywords. Using anchors to direct links from these keywords on your web page to specific web pages within the structure of your web site are vital as well. Your home page might be saved as index.htm or index.html and another page is called baseballgloves.html. Web sites are ranked over time and this ranking is what brings you to the front or top of a searched criteria. Page rank for new web sites start typically at zero. It is not an overnight change that you will go to a 3, 4, or 5 in page ranking. Some web sites never leave the basement and stay at zero. If you are not using some meta tags to gain organic listing and ranking you are probably at zero. The in bound links come from web sites that you seek out and link independently to your web site. Strong in bound links and the number of these strong in bound links raise your own web site to a higher ranking and page listing with search engines.

 

To view your own in bound links go to yahoo.com and in the search area type in link:www.yourwebsiteurl you will see how many inner page links you have and how many in bound links you have and where they come from.

Keeping on that same line of thinking it is important for your web site not to have to many outbound links. This does nothing but hurt you for page ranking. Obviously some may be required but don’t fill up a your web site with links that are directed all over the place just because you think having affiliate banner ads or cool web sites are the things your customers want to see.

 

Keep in Mind the rule: Content is King!!

Don’t fill up your web site with so many images and very little text. It is strange but people do like to read and not just look at nice pictures. Content rich pages are crawled and the use of keywords and descriptions can be located throughout your pages. Give your content heading classes, this will give emphasis to certain sections of your content rich pages that utilized and strengthen the use of your keywords. If you are going to use images make sure to give them an ALT attribute that utilizes the keywords. 

 

Now a days a Blog page or a social networking site is a fantastic idea for your online advertising to compliment your web site. More often than not you can get a blog page going for no charge or next to no cost. I still believe you should allow a professional web developer to design and maintain your web site but a social networking profile, blog, or site is something that you should moderate and add content to. We are currently developing a site for a hand painted glass company. The paint with non toxic paint and are hand washable. The creative glasses sell like crazy. They are great for in home bars, pools with wetbars, they go great with that get together with friends. Always a conversation piece and you can divi them up to who like who.. That right they will custom paint faces that look similar to you and your friends, maybe you want it to look like a famous person they will do that to. We took a hard look at three of our clients to see what truly makes a difference in their overall page ranking and listing placement on google. We chose google because we feel at this point google is the better more reliable source for internet search result. Three clients all with different business criteria and locations in the United States were selected to better understand why one of the businesses are #1/on 1 of google with minimum pages, page content, limited inbound links, and virtually no SEO. It wasn’t because we did a great job with our coding of the web site or that we did an incredible job with their keyword structure and relevant content. We didn’t even name the pages they have significant to any of the keywords. The reason was simply numbers. The number of competing like businesses were approximately 20,000 listings. We have done more SEO work on this site than we have for ourselves. We continue to push for the #1 spot. There as been the zigzag ranking and placement for the past two months. The owner of this company is not a patient man, he expect to see immediate results and wants to destroy his competition. This client has had their website live and optimized for almost three months and I have said on many occasions it has not been long enough to get the ranking and recognition you are expecting. I refer this next statement back to the numbers game. This client competitors have a particular season in which the spend Ad revenue to highly increase their page listing and visibility. We are now in that season. The number of competitors this client faces is approximately 1,000,000. Our client zigzags from page 23 all the ways down to page 5. They usually balance somewhere in between. Our client utilizes PPC and pays to submit their URL to large directories. We encourage them to be selective and use the natural order of 10 listings or less a week and to have patients. In summary to this article I want to say the numbers we face in competitors are close to 7,000,000 , the numbers the first client faces is 20,000 the second client faces maybe a million or more but they do have a specific niche and choice of related keywords that are of interest to a more elite group of people, the third client does have a large amount of competitors but in our opinion the numbers also speak of money the competitors spend at a peak time of year and the number of years and or decades they have been established. Logo Designs are at times the most fun I can have during the work day. I love being creative and coming up with so many examples. Near the end of the day my conceptual ideas have taken into my skin, and it is time to progress with my favorite sample Ideas. I work another few hours making them gracious with effects and depth and feel pretty good about myself. I believe that these logo designs will fall on amazing and starlit gazing eyes. I truly feel I will indeed sell a logo today, and at that put shoes on my feet. The images are on their way… time to get the critical judgement. I am the optimistic so I feel it will be.. it will be. When you get the word back that they loved them it is so outrageously invigorating and stimulates the creative jeans I sit in. But when the word is that they hate all your work. What do you do then? Hey I have been an artist for a long time. I think you can say that I have a style unique as my genetic code. You know what that is the nature of the beast my friends. People will either love your work or hate it. I find no in-be-tweens. I handle it all with grace, honor, and dignity and I most move on. The time is gone, the visions of $’s can now slowly fade into my blank screen or paper as I begin another quest for that published piece, the portfolio filler, the money maker.I know art is in the eye of the beholder and when you are dealing with people that do not know what they are looking for or what they want; all they know is when they see what they don’t want they will then be vocal. I will forever trudge on to surpass the self expectations of great artistry. I am only getting better, faster, stronger, a more complete and rounded shell of an artist.
